Lion Guard Birthday Party

It's been a hard year for us financially, but of course children don't know that and nor should they. My daughter had been asking for a Lion Guard themed birthday party since before Christmas, so my challenge was to give her what she wanted for as little money as possible. I ended up spending less than $125 total including gifts and food! She also wanted to play "lots of games" so those turned into decor themselves as well, such as Pin the Tail on the Zebra, the piñata, and Ono's Keenest of Sight Scavenger Hunt. We saved toilet paper rolls to turn into binoculars, used our brown wrapping paper that we've had for years and years to paint the zebra to pin the tail on, and reused paper fans for decor! When planning the menu, I kept it to only foods we normally eat so we'd be sure to use any leftovers. The only thing I felt I couldn't make or do myself was the piñata, so I ordered that and filled it with Black Forest Gummy Bears, TruEarth Lolipops, and themed temporary tattoos!

Panic and Run!

This is something silly the zebras of Lion Guard say regularly, and my kids find it hilarious. It's even turned into a game in our house where someone yells Panic and Run! and everyone runs away laughing hysterically.

Vegan cupcakes

As always, her cake/cupcakes were vegan but still had to be cute!

Bunga's grubs!

Used every chance I got to reinforce the theme - these are Bunga's grubs!

Hummus Lion

Another food reinforcement of the theme. My kids eat hummus by the spoonful!

Zebra Cakes

The only food item I went out of my way for, but how could I not??

I did also order this inflatable giraffe, which my kids are still playing with a month later! They helped me paint this brown paper tree and crumple up the tissue paper for leaves!

Ono's Keenest of Sight Scavenger Hunt

I made this scavenger hunt in Photoshop but probably could have in an app such as Canva as well. We saved toilet paper rolls and painted them to make binoculars for all the kids.

Pin the Tail on the Zebra

Okay, THIS was a challenge - I am not talented at drawing or painting hahahaha. But she loved it, and we just used twine for the tails!

Toilet paper roll binoculars

Her best roar!
